I'm a skeptic. I haven't seen Avatar yet. Nor do I really intend to. It didn't intrigue me when I initially saw the previews, and even though I've heard rave reviews from lots of different people, it still seems really predictable.
What I find interesting is that for a majority of the people that commented on this site, as well as my friends that have seen the Avatar movie, what they liked best about the film was the special effects and 3D animation. I'm not much into that kind of stuff, which is why I haven't gone to see the movie yet. But while Brooks attacked the plot and theme of the Avatar movie, people that disagree with him seem to be saying the plot doesn't have much to do with the movie, it's simply enjoyable for the 3D effects.
